Before we get on to the two pieces of Really Big News, I wanted to share a couple of things I've been up to which make me very very happy:
Me and My Mom In Paris, December 2006
I've been talking about taking my Francophile Mom (who used to be a French teacher) to Paris for many years now. Well, we finally did it! A weeklong whirlwind tour, just Mom and me. And it wasn't easy: I think there are nearly as many museums in Paris as there are Starbucks in Manhattan...
Lodestar: Live at the Cutting Room, 3/28/07
Though I've been playing and practicing alot of music in recent years -- even more since meeting A, my muse -- I hadn't done a gig since 2000. Then last summer I sat in for one set with a Hammond B-3 trio at Showman's jazz club, right around the corner, and I was hooked again. Not to mention the fun I had playing Stardust with the Jim Hunter Quartet at our wedding last year. So I put together Lodestar, an instrumental jazz fusion quartet comprised of musicians with families and day jobs, like me. Even more fun than I thought it would be! Next gig: July 12, 2007 at the Red Lion in the Village, 7:30 p.m.
